z_index=&#8221;&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1606337990780{margin-bottom: 64px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column][vc_column_text]CNL manages historic low-level radioactive waste (LLRW) in Canada, through the Historic Waste Program Management Office.\u00a0 This is paid for by Atomic Energy of Canada Limited, the federal Crown corporation, which also provides direction and oversight.<\/p>\n<p>The office, which was formerly known as the Low-Level Radioactive Waste Management Office (LLRWMO), was established in 1982 to carry out the federal government\u2019s responsibilities to manage low-level radioactive waste.<\/p>\n<p>While managing historic LLRW at numerous waste sites located throughout Canada, the office has successfully completed remediation projects in Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta and the Northwest Territories throughout its more than 35-year history.<\/p>\n<p>The office is committed to protecting public health and the environment, and performs its duties in a timely and cost-effective manner.\u00a0 The office responds to questions from the public, conducts consultation and stakeholder engagement activities and establishes partnerships to resolve LLRW issues within local communities.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=&#8221;&#8221;
